The Shullsburg/Benton boys will host Monticello/Albany in the opening round of the WIAA baseball tournament May 29 at 5:00 at Badger Park in Shullsburg.
The baseball game scheduled Monday, May 19th at Iowa-Grant has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Instead, Shullsburg/Benton baseball will play Potosi/Cassville in Potosi at 4:30. 5 JV innings to follow.
The Benton/Shullsburg softball team will play at Potosi/Cassville on Thursday, May 22 at Potosi in opening regional play of the WIAA softball tournament. Game time to be determined.

Our AP Spanish students explored Chicago’s vibrant Pilsen neighborhood. A historically rich community shaped by generations of Irish, German, and now predominantly Mexican and Mexican-American residents.
They visited the National Museum of Mexican Art, where students explored the powerful intersections of art, identity, and cultural heritage. Then it was time for an authentic taste of tradition with a delicious carnitas lunch at Carnitas Uruapan, a neighborhood staple with over 50 years of history and a feature on Netflix’s Taco Chronicles!
After lunch, we took a walking tour to admire Pilsen’s iconic murals — bold, colorful stories told through art.
In the afternoon, we headed downtown to the Art Institute of Chicago to view the stunning Frida Kahlo exhibit, an unforgettable opportunity to engage directly with the legacy of Mexico’s most influential artists.
This immersive experience helped students connect deeply with the 6 AP themes and prepare for the cultural comparison task on the AP Spanish exam, all while celebrating the richness of Mexican culture.
