2020 Ridge & Valley Cross Country Meet #7
Goat Hill Classic
Date: Saturday, October 3, 2020 Location: North Crawford School
Attending Schools - Cassville, De Soto, Kickapoo/La Farge, North Crawford, River Ridge, Shullsburg, Wauzeka-Steuben
Start Times: 8:00am - HS Teams Arrive
9:00am - HS Girls Race
10:45am - HS Boys Race
10:00am - Course Open for Middle School Teams
11:00am - MS Girls Race
11:45am - MS Boys Race
MS teams during the HS race are asked to remain close to their camp, understanding they will still need to warm-up. HS runners during the MS race should be gone or on the way out. **Course will not be "open" to MS Teams as HS races will still be in progress.
Arrival/Camp: Please do NOT arrive before 8:00am. Each school will have a pre-designated area in the softball field to have their camp
Masks: Masks are required AT ALL TIMES, BY ANYONE. Runners will be able to unmask during the race on course
AFTER the designated point. Physical distancing should be maintained whenever possible.
Race Starts/Boxes/Masks:
● Masks will need to be worn at the starting area when social distancing can not be maintained. Face coverings will be worn by athletes to start the race until a designated point in the race that will be clearly marked.
● Teams will not get called to the start until 5 minutes before the race starts to eliminate the amount of time athletes are in that area.
● There will be a gap or extra box between all the schools at the start and the boxes will be larger than normal.
Finish Line:
● After athletes finish the race – instead of a chute in place, each team will have a designated area they will go to
for their team where they can recover and then mask up. Runners need to report directly to that area and may not congregate at the finish area. Each school needs to have one adult in their team area to help assist their athlete if needed.
Food: There will be no food/drink served
Awards: High School awards will be delivered at a later date, no middle school awards.
Spectators: 4 spectators per athlete are allowed at the meet and should only attend the MS or HS meet, not both. Please send names before noon on Friday the 2nd. The host school will provide workers. Each team is allowed no more than 4 coaches/managers (People other than runners).
Coaches/Managers/Workers: Masks will be required at all times, even though this is an outdoor event.
Equipment Bins: Eliminate all personal items from the starting line. Use of bins for collection of personal gear, headphones, other items from multiple competitors is not allowed.
Restrooms: Porta-potties will be available. Access to the school building will not be allowed.
AccuRace Timing Services Entry deadline is Friday 10/2/2020

Mr. Strang took his Wisconsin History students on an adventure. They visited the Strawbridge Tunnel "hole in the wall" near New Diggings. In the early 1900's a railway line transported zinc to the Galena-Plattville line.
They also visited The Point of Beginnings in Hazel Green where the entire state of Wisconsin was surveyed, starting in 1831. The day was followed up with bacon wrapped venison.
